January 2025 Update

Hello all and happy new year. Welcome to the first Untold Story development update of 2025!

Last time, I mentioned that my newest hurdle was placing all the NPCs in the world. Well, that's done! I went on a roll and got them all out of the way. Even more so, I have also completely designed the final dungeon including all the enemies too.

Here's all that's left to actually develop now:

-Final Bosses & Cutscenes

-The Epilogue

The first of those will be easy. It's just cutscenes and boss design. I'm not worried about that and it will easily be done by my previously set goal of February. The second part is the big one.

The epilogue is a chapter in and of itself. There's two parts to it, that I'll describe vaugely to not spoilt anything: the cutscene and the playable section. It's going to be pretty big and have a lot of work behind it. The cutscene section is basically one giant cutscene after the final boss. It's simple enough, but every part of the cutscene will change based on what the player did. So it's not making X amount of scenes stiched together. it's making X varations of Y amount of scenes, which just adds a lot more work.

Then there's a playable part. I'm not going to spoil anything about it, but I'll just say it involves placing all 130 NPCs around the world again. With varations on text based on the player's actions again. There's more to it than that, but spoilers. Just know, the ending is something I care deeply about. I've know how this game ends since it was first conceptualized nearly ten years ago, so I want it to come to reality. I don't want to half ass it just to finish. The entire game builds toward it, so I will put in my all to it.

I think I can still hit my goal of finishing the epilogue by the end of February, I just have to work and think of the end goal.

Something New

Main characters in Untold Story will have 1 alternate outfit they can wear. They are purely cosmetic and don't provide any buffs or gameplay varations. They don't change text boxes either [as that would be an insane amount of work, even for me]. They do however change the sprite in the menu and during battles! It's simply just a fun cosmetic difference for people to put on what they like best. I hope you look forward to seeing everyone else's outfits!

That's all I've got for today. I'll see you all next month where hopefully I can finally say the game is developed. Thank you as always for following along with me on this. We're on the home stretch, let's do this.
